Which lens to start photography with

Many people have asked me what camera should I buy or what lens would be the best lens to start photography. Here I think I was lucky that I got a good advice from a Canon Engineer. He said start photography with a 50mm F1.8 lens.

Use a DSLR with a 50mm F 1.8 lens

Well that’s my suggestion while it is a fixed prime lens with no Zoom. Further, you need to move forward or backward being a fixed lens. But, believe me it’s worth it that too with lowest lens investment. It helped me learn a lot from the blur effect , to speed settings , to landscape, to portrait photograph

The blur effect

These are some of my initial picture where I learned the blur effect isolating one piece as the focus point.

Capturing portraits without using the flash light. This lens actually helped me a lot on the importance of lenses and the transition from a fixed lens to a zoom lens 70 – 200 mm. Though not useful for wildlife photography but a lens to have if you are into people photography.

Hope it helps you in case you plan to get into photography.
